TACKLING HATE CRIME IN HIGHER EDUCATION

A University of Bath Teaching Development Fund Project

NOTE: The Course will commence on Thursday 10th October, 16.15 - 18.05.

 

COURSE OVERVIEW

This 6 week course has been developed to provide students the opportunity to learn more about:

- Hate crimes in higher education,

- Providing support for victims, and

- Campaigning and social change campaigns.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

In addition to the workshops detailed above, we are excited by the other activities that our students will engage with:

Exhibition

DIGITAL TRAINING

Enrolled students will complete the University of Leicester's Centre for Hate Studies training on 'Hate Crime in Higher Education'. Students will receive a certificate to verify that they have completed the training.

CAMPAIGNING

Students will have the opportunity to engage with the #NeverOK campaign, support activities as part of National Hate Crime Awareness Week, and reviewing local and national campaigns.

VISUAL EXHIBITION

Finally, students will collaborate to create multimedia projects to form a visual exhibition on campus. These projects could include: launching their own campaign or creating short awareness raising videos, as examples.

 

COURSE SYLLABUS

A course syllabus will be available for registered students in September.
